Goethe said, "Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it" (the rest of this quote is at http://www.happychild.org.uk/acc/tpr/gtm/0299your.htm ).  Its words are very true.  No matter what limitations life seems to throw, or have thrown, in your direction, people are often capable of very much more than they realise.

Not everything that you try will "work" - but you'll gain experience from the things that don't, and at least some of what you try to do will be achievable.  There's a Chinese proverb that says something along the lines of "Aim for the moon and you may get to the top of the highest tree; aim only for the treetops and you may never even get off the ground."

As Goethe says, "the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one, that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforseen incidents and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way."  I can vouch for the truth of that.  Over 17 years ago, on 1st April 1989, I had a "vision" of something that would help children and would be called Project HappyChild.  No matter what I tried, nothing "happened" and as a single parent with small children of my own, and very little money, I could see no way of it being brought about.  Yet my belief that it would one day "happen" never wavered, and in late 1997 events started to move in the right direction, and a very small website was built for Project HappyChild early in 1998. Since then, help has come in from across the world (see page at http://www.happychild.org.uk/fr/sponsors/index.htm ).

Today the Project HappyChild website has over 16,000 pages and receives around 50,000 page views each day.  It's not "finished" yet - around another four years, probably - but it links children across the world, provides free educational resources and highlights the needs of disadvantaged kids to enable funds to reach the organizations working to help them.  Yet this website has evolved from a background of no spare money, very little spare time and, I might say, no real prior knowledge of computers or webpage building!

If you want to do something, just go for it, and trust.  "From tiny acorns, mighty oaks do grow."  You might need to plant more than one acorn :) but what becomes possible may well surprise you.

Arnita Batra, Principal - Sardar Dastur Primary and Nursery School

I extend my heartiest congratulations to the Leaders team for conceptualizing the site namely schoolsleaders.com. I see this site emerging as a trend setting forerunner for many good things to come. I am very sure that this site can provide an excellent platform for young student leaders from schools all over the world to share their school experiences, novel activities and any other additional fields of common mutual interest

Writing and sharing of such experiences from a very diverse spectrum of students from different cultures, countries can be a very enthralling and enriching experience. This venture when undertaken by the young students can really fire their imaginative engines and give them a virtual experience beyond description. Also, this can help in broadening their mantle horizons as they will be able to get a very wide exposure.

I am quite positive in my mind that young students from schools all over the world will willingly come forward and share their thoughts on this site. I wish all these young school students who become leaders a brilliant success.

We request all the educationists to send in their comments and advice to school students and in particular to the schools leaders. Also any other feedback from you is welcome. Please click here for the online form.
